About Frank
I have been involved in local and national politics for over twenty years. I first served the people as a local County Councillor in Co. Roscommon until I was elected to Seanad Éireann in 2002. I served in the upper house, until I had the honour of being elected by the people of the Roscommon - South Leitrim Constituency as a member of Dáil Éireann on two occasions from 2007 until 2016. Subsequently, I appointed to the 25th Seanad by An Taoiseach Enda Kenny and served here between 2016 and 2020.
In February 2020, I was successful in my efforts to win a seat in the 2020 General Election in the Sligo - Leitrim Constituency and took a seat in the 33rd Dail. I was appointed as a Minister for State at the Department of Health by An Taoiseach Michael Martin in July 2020.
I am proud to say that I have been successful at every election I have contested to date.
Before I entered politics, I ran a family newsagent which had a huge and loyal network of friends and customers from North, Roscommon, Leitrim and Sligo. Between the newsagent and other businesses, I employed more than 30 people.
In my work as a politician, I am delighted to say I have strong family and community support and my wife Elaine and I are blessed to have two beautiful young children, Francesca and MacDara.
